Halifax, NS –
The new 15 car cable ferry for Country Harbour, NS, the “Theodore O’Hara”, designed by E.Y.E. Marine Consultants and built by A.F. Theriault Shipyard, was launched in Meteghan, NS on July 26th, 2021.
The “Theodore O’Hara” is the first of two sister vessels replacing the two remaining older cable ferries in Nova Scotia. The second vessel is currently under construction at A.F. Theriault and will be launched in 2022. Both vessels have been designed to meet the most recent Transport Canada “Vessel Fire Safety Regulations”.
The vessel was then docked in Country Harbour for final outfitting, TC inspections and dock trials.
The vessel is now in service, as of Sept 23rd, 2021, replacing the previous vessel “Stormont II”
